Health and safety

Returning home safe from work is not just an expectation, it is a human right.

Our distinct methods of learning allows for a new understanding of an individual’s safety role, and gives them the communication skills to make a change. Your interactive experience can combine film, live action, activities, facilitated discussion and purposeful practice.

Safety Leadership Conversations

Our health and safety leadership behaviour and conversations course can reference key safety culture concepts and theories. Safety themes are raised and discussed such as responsibility, ownership, safety interventions and safety communication.

This session explores the efficacy of safety leadership, communication tools and personal influence to ensure full engagement from participants.  Because everyone is responsible for safety, and overlooking it is never an option.

Take Effect collaborates with companies in Construction, Engineering, Air Traffic, Warehouse and Logistics, Oil and Gas, Energy, Manufacturing, Hospitality and Health Care and many more industries, to help them discover the tools to improve their organisations approach to safety conversations. We can work with senior leaders, managers, operational site staff, contractors, back-office teams, partners and suppliers.

We supercharge your learning with a ready-to-go training programme in:

Fire Safety Behaviour and Conversations
  • Taking personal responsibility
  • Intervening with effective and impactful communication
  • Having practical safety conversations
  • Staying mindful and aware of potential risks
  • How to cultivate an environment of Psychological Safety
  • Leadership Styles and the impact on team dynamics
  • How to support a ‘Safety First attitude’
  • Develop a culture of accountability, rather than blame

With the Grenfell tragedy, the growing scrutiny of companies, the changes to Fire Safety requirements, and your teams needing to embrace change. Building trust and a ‘Safety First attitude’ has never been more crucial. Your teams’ attitude and behaviour to safety are key to your continued success.

We have been working with national construction clients to ensure that everyone in the business from Directors to frontline operators understand that fire safety is everyone’s responsibility. How taking accountability means not passing responsibility, that ‘snap decisions’ based on inconsistent messages or competing priorities can negatively affect fire safety and that cross departmental communication is a key in improving fire safety processes.

Flex options

One size does not fit everyone. Our ready-to-go courses are different to most; they address the real-life challenges your leaders or managers face. We flex with customisable options to suit the needs of your company:

Customisation – We can ensure that the content aligns with your key messages, company values and ways of working. Meaningful context and real-world grounding is central to training that addresses your day-to-day challenges.

Workplace Simulation – Choose live practice with human role players to accurately reflect real workplace challenges.

Group Sizes – The usual is from 6 to 16 participants in a human trainer-led environment. Our options of Forum Theatre and AI led booster sessions can accommodate larger groups.

Length – From half-day high-impact sessions, to five-day ‘deep dive’ courses, that drive behavioural change.

Venue – Choose either our Grade II listed building in central Manchester or a venue anywhere of your choosing.

Method – When it comes to ensuring behavioural change, we know that human-led training is superior to AI. However, our Take Effect offering utilises blended learning AI powered add-ons, including behavioural prompts to embed learning.

Alternatively, we have a fully bespoke learning solutions service.

Forum Theatre workplace simulation is key in encouraging positive change to the way that your employees approach conversations and approach safety. Forum Theatre is a drama facilitation technique where learners explore human behaviour and its impact on others. This style of training can encourage buy-in, debate and acceptance for change.

Workplace scenarios give context to health and safety discussions and learning. With the Workplace Forum Theatre option, our professional Actors will perform a workplace scenario designed specifically for your organisation. Your employees become observers, invited to comment and give advice to the protagonist. The group can experiment and witness alternative outcomes as a result of behavioural changes. Our professional workplace ‘Real-Play’ Actors are adept at responding in the moment, improvising different responses and behaviours, whilst still maintaining your organisation’s brief.

“The Forum Theatre was very unique and well received. Extremely thought provoking. Interactive training session. Engaging. Good messaging. Quality actors.”
